real soo close to win in primera division
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho instantly turned his attentions to winning the Primera Division title after his side were knocked out of the Champions League for the second consecutive season at the semi-final stage. Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka had penalties saved by Manuel Neuer and Sergio Ramos blazed his effort over the bar as Bayern Munich triumphed 3-1 on spot-kicks at the Bernabeu on Wednesday night after the two sides were locked at 3-3 on aggregate, but Mourinho believes Real's season will still have been a success if they go on to win the championship.
Sergio Ramos praised the team's performance against Bayern Munchen.
"We tried everything but we knew we faced the likes of Robben, Ribery and Gomez. The match went through many different phases after our second goal. We can't attack all the time. Penalty shootouts are unpredictable. Those who miss are those who shoot. I don't think any player can be reproached anything."

world cup 2014 brazil
When the next edition of the FIFA World Cup™ kicks off in Brazil in 2014, the excitement will not be limited to the stadiums hosting the matches. FIFA and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) have been working together with the twelve Brazilian Host Cities to plan the FIFA Fan Fest programme which will come to life in iconic locations throughout Brazil. One major milestone of the planning has been reached today with the twelve FIFA Fan Fest locations confirmed by the Host Cities.
History of Football
The first description of a football match in England was written by William FitzStephen in about 1170. He records that while visiting London he noticed that "after dinner all the youths of the city goes out into the fields for the very popular game of ball." He points out that every trade had their own football team. "The elders, the fathers, and the men of wealth come on horseback to view the contests of their juniors, and in their fashion sport with the young men; and there seems to be aroused in these elders a stirring of natural heat by viewing so much activity and by participation in the joys of unrestrained youth."
A few centuries later another monk wrote that football was a game "in which young men... propel a huge ball not by throwing it into the air, but by striking and rolling it along the ground, and that not with their hands but with their feet." This chronicler strongly disapproved of the game claiming it was "undignified and worthless" and that it often resulted in "some loss, accident or disadvantage to the players themselves."
One manor record, dated 1280, states: "Henry, son of William de Ellington, while playing at ball at Ulkham on Trinity Sunday with David le Ken and many others, ran against David and received an accidental wound from David's knife of which he died on the following Friday." In 1321, William de Spalding, was in trouble with the law over a game of football: "During the game at ball as he kicked the ball, a lay friend of his, also called William, ran against him and wounded himself on a sheath knife carried by the canon, so severely that he died within six days." There are other recorded cases during this period of footballers dying after falling on their daggers.

England's training camp better but not perfect
The 1966 World Cup winners will train in the city of Krakow after the English FA agreed to share the costs of upgrading the facilities at local team Hutnik in exchange for their use during the June championship co-hosted by Ukraine.
Last year the UK's Sun newspaper published photos of the changing rooms with bare walls and strewn with rubble, saying the site was "barely fit for a pub team".
"The changing rooms are now exactly the same as Arsenal's," Krakow's deputy mayor Magdalena Sroka told Reuters in an interview.
"We had our people visit Arsenal. What they saw there was good and they did the same here."
England will play in the Ukrainian cities of Kiev and Donetsk but are to train in Krakow.
The city has cracked down on media access to the facilities since the December expose and pleaded for patience while moving ahead with refurbishment and planting new grass on the training pitch.
"We have a video camera installed to monitor the progress of grass growth and we have British greenkeepers coming here every week," Sroka said.
She also said representatives of the English FA who visited the site last week were pleased with what they saw.
Reuters did not have access to the changing rooms but got a peak of the stadium and nearby facilities from the outside and they looked far from ready to host the world's top footballers.
Three or four workers were putting fresh paint on rusted railings surrounding the stadium. There were also letters missing on a sign for a sports hall opposite the site and wide holes and cracks on the surface of a nearby car park.
"The pitch and the changing rooms are important and all the rest is irrelevant," Sroka said.
Krakow is not among the four Polish cities that will stage Euro 2012 matches but the Dutch and Italians will also have training camps there.
The Dutch will train at Wisla Krakow, the city's top club in recent years, while the Italians have selected a smaller ground occupied by local rivals Cracovia.

UEFA Champions League 2012
It may be only an intermission before a big summer clearout, but there could be no hope of Chelsea snuffing out Lionel Messi’s luminous gang without the spirit and the toughness of Terry, Lampard and Drogba, even if Fernando Torres is selected ahead of Drogba at centre-forward in Wednesday night’s first leg at Stamford Bridge.
These three have run up 98 years in age and 240 Champions League appearances. Drogba has 37 goals in the competition and Lampard 22.

Although Barcelona and Real Madrid both go into the concluding weeks of the 2011-12 season scrapping for major honours, neither side will want to be caught cold in the summer transfer market, which could dictate the long-term success of both clubs.

Poland claims Euro 2012 security preparations progress as scheduled
Security preparations for Euro 2012 football championship, co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine, are progressing according to the schedule, Polish deputy Interior Minister Michal Deskur said on Thursday.
Deskur recalled that the Interior Ministry and its services have been preparing for the tournament for several years. ” Complete readiness should be confirmed in mid-May, about three weeks before the first match,” he added.
Three organisational areas are of key significance to the tournament: security, transport and servicing the guests, the deputy minister explained.
Referring to his cooperation with Ukrainian authorities he stressed police and border guard preparations. He added that the Interior and the Administration Ministries will set up common headquarters for the time of the tournament. The 16-nation Euro 2012 soccer championships, slated for June 8- July 1, 2012, will take place in four Polish cities of Warsaw, Gdansk, Wroclaw and Poznan as well as four Ukrainian cities of Kiev, Lvov, Donetsk and Kharkov.
